This April, Hackmakers in collaboration with the United Nations, is organizing a global virtual hackathon: the #WorldInnovationDay Hack, 2021. It aims to encourage and foster innovative and creative solutions to tackle the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) created by the United Nations, namely:
- SDG #3: Good Health and Well – Being
- SDG #4: Quality Education
- SDG #8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, created by the United Nations and adopted by all its members in the year 2015, focuses on peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its core, there are 17 SDGs which is an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
The #WorldInnovation Hack 2021 focuses on three of the 17 SDGs. Hackmakers urges the participants to focus on the three challenges and encourage them to use their creativity to generate ideas, be open to new decisions, and take new actions to provide a meaningful contribution to the same.
